Reflection #4

                                               FAQ – StoryJumper Support

This is an example of some of the free stories online that people have created.

This is an example a page I created using their tools.

Storyjumper is a website where anyone can create stories and make it into books. In the classroom this would be good for when students create spin off or personal stories. If students don’t feel comfortable drawing, they are able to design their own characters, scenes, text, and even audio all online. This website makes it easy to bring student creations to life and they are able to have their story printed and made into a book. The prices range from 24.99 for a hardback version, 12.99 for a paperback, and 2.99 as an eBook. Buying the book of course is optional, but is a good way for students to have something tangible to look back on.

Some examples of the templates that can be used.

How the template looks when selected and the editor.

Amimoto is a great way for students to create mini presentations for the classroom. This would be useful because each presentation would be about a minute long and be short and concise. Also, I feel like it would be friendly to use since there are nice templates for various projects, but students can still be creative with what they create if they want to start from scratch. Another thing I liked about this website is that it was free to sign up and provided many options.

  1. Hi Mary,
I enjoyed reading your blog post. I got a chance to use Animoto when I started to work on my miro collaboration assignment. I wish I had known about this tool earlier because it was actually super easy and fun to work with! Do you think this is something you would use again in the future after our videos we make for collaboration day? I think I will consider it when doing a presentation of some sort because its free also!
    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi AnnElise,
I didn't really know about Animoto tell this recent assignment, but I like the option of doing a more video based presentation for many reasons. One being is that its different than just doing another PowerPoint presentation and allows students to think in a different way. Through these presentations they are able to create a mood, use imagery to demonstrate their points rather than text, and student will have to edit themselves more. When doing these types of assignments I feel like students are able to be creative since there are so many options with tools such as Animoto.

    2. I also like that it is different from doing a powerpoint presentation! Since powerpoint is kind of the traditional or main way of doing presentations throughout my experience in public school and college, it is nice to see different ways. I found this to be more fun and easier than powerpoint!

  2. Mary,
I love that children can create their own stories and this website allows their ideas and thoughts to come alive. What a great way to spark students inner creativity while engaging them in an academic activity. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Mary,
I also chose Story Jumper as one of my tools. It is such a great creative tool for students to use to get their imaginations running while also getting some technology experience as well. Amimoto is a great option for students to use when creating presentations. There are a lot of presentation platforms out there, but this one is very user friendly. Great job!
