Reflection #5

Clever is a great resource in the classroom when working with electronics. The applications they provide to students and teachers is massive and covers various topics including assessment, classroom management, engineering, IT, language, intervention, math, reading, science, social studies, and typing. One of the things I really liked about this site is that it gives students a login for all of their applications. This eliminates the stress of having students sign up for a new website every time and creating new passwords. Since students go to clever and to the teacher’s page where it will have the lesson displayed out along with the applications they will be using with the activity. As a result, transition time between lessons becomes a lot easy with not having the stress of logging in. Teachers are able to make the website seem easy to use and if you have any troubles, they have a YouTube page with videos on how to set up and fix common issues. I see this being a help resource that I will probably use in my future classroom and it links students up to Bloomz, so they are able to see how they are doing.

Bloomz is a classroom management tool where teachers and parents can communicate with each other. One of the things I liked about Bloomz is how teachers are able to show how a student’s behavior is in class by using flowers. Also, it allows other teachers from the same district to communicate with each other through the app. Finally, I like how it allows all parents to have access to the information if they don’t sign up with Bloomz they will still receive emails. I see this resource as being easy to use and will definitely use the future to save me some time since it has multiple applications built in. Using classroom management tools is essential to the classroom and allows everyone to feel like they are a part of it.

  1. Hi Mary,
I love the screenshots you used in your blog post, great way to show how useful technology is. I like Bloomz, that is so interesting that there is an app to view students behaviors, and even more interesting that it is done by choosing a flower that best represents a students behavior. Do you think you would use Bloomz to share with students parents and communicate their behavior and how they are doing in class? Great post!

    1. Thank you AnnElise, I think it is a great way to show students and parents how they are doing in the classroom each day. It kind of reminds me of the pull a card system my teacher had in her classroom just done virtually and privately. Also, I enjoyed the layout of Bloomz and it incorporates class communication, opportunities for 1 on 1 interactions, scheduling, and reminders. The layout kind of reminds me of a classroom website.
